  • Advocacy
Volunteers in this area support the HS Foundation’s Advocacy Workgroup by advancing initiatives that promote improved HS outcomes through public policy, regulatory awareness, and community mobilization.

    Patient Advocacy & Storytelling
This group consists of individuals living with HS who are interested in sharing their personal experiences to help educate healthcare providers, elevate public understanding, and inform policymakers in efforts to drive meaningful change.

    Provider Education (Dermatologists)
Volunteers in this area contribute to the development of educational resources that enhance dermatologists’ ability to diagnose, manage, and treat HS. This may include shaping content for videos, articles, presentations, or clinical guidance materials.

    Provider Education (Non Dermatologists)
Volunteers in this group help create strategies and educational tools tailored for non dermatology providers—such as emergency physicians, family physicians, and OB/GYNs—who often encounter HS early in the patient journey. The goal is to improve early recognition and timely referral.

    Research & Scientific Engagement
Individuals in this category support the Foundation’s scientific mission by participating in the review of research grant applications and abstract submissions for the annual SHSA meeting, helping to advance evidence based understanding of HS.

    Mentorship
Volunteers serve as mentors for trainees and early career clinicians interested in HS care. This role helps cultivate the next generation of HS specialists by providing guidance, insight, and professional development support.
