Irena Pastar, PhD

I have led a translational research laboratory at the University of Miami Department of Dermatology since 2011, focusing on the skin microbiome and tissue repair. Inspired by the growing impact of HS, close collaborations with clinicians, and support from the HS Foundation, I have dedicated my work to advancing HS research. My passion lies in understanding the microbiome’s role in HS and developing innovative disease models to drive new and improved therapies. I am committed to translating scientific discoveries into meaningful advances for patients and look forward to contributing to the HS Foundation’s mission.
